Eligible containers are a valuable resource, they are not waste. Once you return your eligible containers to a refund point your containers are sorted, processed and auctioned to approved recyclers who turn them into new goods like clothing, airplane wings and new containers (a circular economy!). All materials returned through Containers for Change must be recycled or reused. Recyclers are evaluated and approved by WARRRL (the non-profit Scheme Coordinator); they must also sign an Agreement stipulating that all scheme materials are recycled or reused in accordance with the governing legislation. It’s one of the ways we know your containers are being recycled and remanufactured into new goods, and we’re keeping them out of landfill, waterways and parklands.
Yes, lids from your eligible containers can be returned to your refund point, but you’ll need to remove them from the containers before you receive your refund.
All refund point depots will have dedicated bins where you can return your container lids. For bag drops, place them loosely in the bag
Member numbers are a great way to receive your refund. They’re a unique code which customers can use to receive their refund via EFT. It can take up to 3-5 business days for your refund to appear in your bank account.
All refund points will offer Member numbers as a method of payment.
You can sign up for a member number here.
You can also track your refunds through signing into the portal with your Member number!
